Personal Responsibility

Something has come up for me quite a bit lately and it is “personal responsibility.”

I see this problem everywhere, people are not taking responsibility for what is happening to them in their life and business. Take a good look around and see how you are contributing to your overwhelm, stress, unhealthy lifestyle etc. Everyday when you wake up you make choices. Everyday the choice is yours. You can decide whether to shower or not, wear the blue shirt or the red shirt. And you get to decide if it is going to be a good day or if it is going to be a bad day.

The only, let me repeat, the ONLY thing that we can control in our lives is ourselves. We have complete control over our reactions, our emotions, our thoughts, our behaviors and especially what we are getting out of life.

Personal Responsibility is HUGE, if you are not getting this it is time to rethink what you are doing. You can play the victim role, and “woe is me” but you will never get anywhere with that attitude. You will never get the results you want. YOU have to take responsibility for everything that happens, YOU have to be in control of your life. YOU have to choose what is ultimately the most important thing for you to do that day. YOU choose whether the person who cut you off in 7am traffic really deserves to mess up your whole day.

Look around at your life and see where you are taking responsibility and see where you are playing the role of the victim.

“There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself.” Hermann Hesse
